In collaboration with Mercy Behavioral Health, HDS provides behavioral and mental health services for the deaf and hard of hearing in southwestern Pennsylvania. All Behavioral Health therapists are fluent in American Sign Language and skilled at eliminating communication barriers, as well as providing psychiatric help. These professionals recognize the unique behavioral health needs of individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The small, specialized mental health team responds to clients’ needs through several different approaches: psychiatric evaluations, medication management, individual, family and couples’ therapy, group therapy, personal assistance, and casework support.
