Mobile Medical Unit
A Medical Mobile Unit is a medical clinic on wheels. The unit looks like a big RV and has two private exam rooms, a bathroom and a waiting area. You receive all of the same services in the mobile unit with Dr. Gilboa, who is ASL fluent, nurses, or one of the other Squirrel Hill Health Center doctors that you can at their office including check-ups, blood work, flu shots, vaccines and sick visits. All insurance accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid. If a person is on medical assistance, they would need to make Dr. Gilboa their doctor in order to be seen regularly. There is also a Sliding Fee Scale application available.
Squirrel Hill Health Center mobile unit will see patients in front of HDS on
the following Thursdays from 1-4pm:
December 1 & 15, 2011
1945 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219

Health Bridges - www.healthbridges.info
A community task force was formed in Pittsburgh several years ago to provide education about better health care communications and improve social and behavioral health services for persons who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing who reside in Western Pennsylvania.
This task force is called the Behavioral Health Task Force for Persons who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing.
Together with advocates, professors, area physicians, and legal partners they created a website called www.healthbridges.info.
The website has advocacy, social service and patient provider related information in ASL and English. There is an accommodation card there, a list of valuable links, and a topic of interest section that changes bi-monthly.
Check out the YouTube video made by a variety of community agencies in Spokane Washington that have been working together to improve communications between emergency responders and persons who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. It is now posted on the HealthBridges website. The direct link address is: http://www.healthbridges.info/?p=1049
